Drug Uses

Celebrex is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent used for the symptomatic treatment of inflammatory joint diseases (IJD), as well as for pain relief of various intensity and localization. Celebrex effectively relieves pain and joint inflammation in patients with:

• degenerative rheumatic diseases (including osteoarthritis);
• juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (including systemic, polyarticular and pauciarticular types);
• autoimmune rheumatic diseases (including rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis).

For relief of the symptoms of rheumatic diseases in children younger than two years and adults, the maintenance doses of Celebrex vary from 100mg to 200mg per day. For the management of severe rheumatoid arthritis flare-ups, the maximum daily dose of Celebrex 400mg can be prescribed.

Due to the fact that Celebrex capsules exert not only anti-inflammatory, but also a powerful analgesic effect, they can be used to relieve acute pain caused by:

• tooth extraction;
• trauma and sprains;
• orthopedic surgery.

Women can use Celebrex capsules for management of acute pain episodes caused by primary dysmenorrhea. To treat pain syndromes in adult men and women, the maximum daily dose of Celebrex is 400mg divided into two equal doses.

Missed Dose

If you use Celebrex on a schedule and forgot to take a regular dose, take the missed dose of this anti-inflammatory drug as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose of Celebrex, skip the missed dose of this drug and continue your regular dosing schedule.

• If Celebrex capsules are used as an analgesic agent, the duration of their use should not exceed 7 days in a row.
• The duration of Celebrex use for the symptomatic treatment of rheumatic diseases is prescribed individually for each patient.
• Patients with chronic rheumatic conditions may require a symptomatic treatment of joint disease lasting from several months to several years.

Storage

Celebrex capsules should be stored at room temperature of up to 25°C. Storage and transportation of Celebrex capsules may be at temperature of up to 30°C. This anti-inflammatory / analgesic agent should be kept out of sight and reach of children and pets.

Warnings

In prolonged use of Celebrex and while using high doses of this drug, a risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, hypertension, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events may increase. Smoking, alcohol use, elderly age, and Celebrex combination with other drugs are potential factors for increasing the risk of serious gastrointestinal and / or cardiovascular effects.

Celebrex Side Effects

During clinical trials of Celebrex capsules, it was noted that elderly people aged 75 and older experienced unwanted effects more frequently than patients of other age groups did. However, regardless of the patient’s age and the used Celebrex dose, this anti-inflammatory drug rarely causes serious unwanted effects. Celebrex may increase the risk of hypertension, sinusitis, dizziness, pharyngitis, flatulence, diarrhea, rhinitis, rash or peripheral edema in some patients.
